hearing aids

Let’s start with the basics; what is a hearing aid?

It’s a small electronic device that amplifies and clarifies sound. Hearing aids help people cope with their hearing loss and help reduce the effects of your hearing loss.

They come in various shapes and sizes, worn in or behind the ear, but they all consist of;

A microphone to receive incoming sounds

An amplifier to increase the power of the signal

A speaker which turns the signal from the amplifier into sound-waves

A battery to power it

A microchip for more sophisticated features

Why would I need a hearing aid?

You can suffer hearing loss for any number of reasons. It’s important to find a hearing aid that deals with the issues you may be experiencing and suits the life  you lead.

Whether you need a hearing aid for both ears will depend on whether the issues are present in both of them. A hearing test will be able to tell you if this is the case.
